Plans to remove the one-way system have been discussed for years, and for now it remains, with a new two-way cycle route through the town centre approved in 2025. Expect cyclists, pedestrians who aren't looking and coaches pulling in near the attractions.
The Blackwall Tunnel and the new Silvertown Tunnel both charge per crossing since April 2025. Once you pass, it's worth knowing before a sat-nav sends you under the river.
Hither Green and Sidcup are the nearest test centres. Students at the university, families and commuters all learn here, in manual or automatic, with evening and weekend lessons.
