Learning to drive in Hammersmith
The gyratory now has a protected two-way cycle track on its north side, cycle-only signals and raised crossings at side roads, work that TfL completed in 2022. Lane discipline, reading signals and checking for cyclists all happen at once here.
With Hammersmith Bridge open only to pedestrians and cyclists, drivers heading south of the river use Putney Bridge or Chiswick Bridge instead, so older directions or habits won't work. The A4 flyover carries fast traffic west towards the M4.
Isleworth and Greenford are the nearest test centres. Professionals, students and families all learn here, in manual or automatic, with evening and weekend lessons.
