Learning to drive in Hoxton
The new Old Street layout means signals to watch for cyclists as well as cars, lanes that behave differently from the old gyratory and plenty of pedestrians heading for the station. If you learned the old roundabout, it's worth relearning.
The Hoxton West low traffic neighbourhood, introduced in 2020 and made permanent in 2022, has filters on Shepherdess Walk, Nile Street and Ebenezer Street. Hackney says traffic inside fell by almost half, so those streets are quieter, but you can't use them as shortcuts.
Old Street marks part of the Congestion Charge zone boundary, and much of Hoxton north of it is outside. Once you pass, it pays to know where the line is. Students, creatives and people working in and around Shoreditch all learn with us here, in manual or automatic, with evening and weekend slots.
