Learning to drive in Limehouse
The Limehouse Link is free and carries the A1203 from The Highway to Canary Wharf, so driving through it means keeping a steady speed, a safe gap and your lane in a long, lit tunnel. It's a very different experience from the streets above.
The Rotherhithe Tunnel is also free but has strict limits: vehicles wider than 2 metres or taller than 4 metres can't use it, and cameras enforce the restrictions around the clock. It's narrow and winding, so many newly qualified drivers prefer to build up to it.
Commercial Road is the busy main route, full of buses heading between Aldgate and Poplar, while the streets around Limehouse Basin are calmer. Whether you're a commuter heading to Canary Wharf or a nervous beginner, lessons are planned around you in manual or automatic.
