Southgate Circus is a busy roundabout with buses circling the station, so lane choice, signalling and watching for pedestrians all matter at once. It's excellent roundabout practice right on the doorstep.
Between Southgate and Palmers Green, the Fox Lane quieter neighbourhood uses barriers and enforcement cameras to stop through traffic. Introduced in 2020 and later made permanent, it cut traffic inside the area by around 72%, so those streets are calm but can't be used as shortcuts. Green Lanes nearby has protected cycle lanes.
Wood Green and Enfield are the nearest test centres. Families, commuters and returning drivers all learn here, in manual or automatic, at a pace that suits them.
